Biographical history
Robert Girard naît en 1940 à Montréal, et arrive à Bourlamaque en octobre 1968. Il épouse Diane Richard en 1963, et le couple a trois enfants : Manon, Alain et Nathalie. Il est aide cuisinier puis mineur à la mine Lamaque en 1968, avant de devenir agent d’intervention au Centre d’orientation L’Étape de Val-d’Or pendant 16 ans. Le père de Robert, Roger habite un temps à O’Sullivan River (Miquelon). Il y est sectionnaire (entretien de la voie ferrée) pour le Canadien National.
